Morina longifolia (Long-leaved whorlflower)

A very unusual and hardy native of the Himalayas where it is found growing at around 3,000 meters.  Young plants could be mistaken for rather lush thistles but once the plants reach about 2 years old  they produce a tall flower stem that rises up from the prickly, aromatic foliage.  White tubular flower that change to crimson once they are fertilised create a wonderful multi-tonal effect.  Flowers June to August and will gently self-seed, the tap roots do not like disturbance so allow them to grow where they choose!  Thrives in full sun and moist but well drained soil.  H&S 90cm x 30cm

Pot size: 9cm
