Whorl after whorl of flowers in shades of white, soft to deep pink, purple or red, spaced at intervals on upright stems that rise above basal rosettes of lettuce-like bright green leaves. Flowers late spring-early summer. Native to Japan this robust and hardy perennial thrives in moist soil in partial shade. Looks particulalry good when planted in drifts with hostas, ferns and iris. H&S 30-60cm x 30cm (12-24in x 12in).
