Used by dyers as a source of yellow colouring this British native plant is a fascinating addition to the garden. The name Saw-wort comes from the serrated, saw-like edges of the leaves. The flower buds have attractive silver-edged scales and these buds then open to reveal the purple knapweed like flowers, a rich source of nectar for bees and butterflies. Prefers sun and grows in most soils. H&S 60cm
